“No pink, please!” Said Julia when we were talking about her color vision. I absolutely love the colors we ended up using for Julia + JC’s suite…blues, corals and yellows were going to be the focus and pink was not welcome this time. And I was happy to oblige
An artist herself, Julia had painted some watercolors and she wanted to incorporate them with mine. This is not a typical process at all can get a bit tricky to combine different styles, but once I got to know Julia, saw the work she had created and how meaningful that would be for them, I knew I’d find a way to make it work. This is why we call it a custom invitation design, right? We make sure every wedding invitation suite is unique to each couple.
Julia wanted to use calligraphy - instead of the brush lettering or typeface for the key information such as their names, etc - so I used my modern and timeless pointed pen calligraphy style for a chic vibe.
I created my signature watercolor icons often used on the Details card to bring to life their celebration weekend and created an organic, lush floral motif for their envelope liner for a fun, surprise garden envelope-opening experience.
For their reception items, I loved creating their menu with watercolor icons visually describing their dishes such as lemons, carrots, a cute fish for the Chilean sea bass and a cute chicken for the chicken Italiano.
We had used a lovely wavy border for the Details card and I carried that structured border theme through to the Table Numbers which we dressed up with the beautiful florals.
